A significant victory for the North Carolina Tar Heels football team came on Saturday night against Pitt. Not only was it a statement game, but it also assisted UNC in rising in both the Associated Press top 25 and the USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll.
After defeating Pitt, the Tar Heels rose four spots from No. 21 to No. 17 overall. With a 7-1 start, it’s the highest rating for the Tar Heels this year.

UNC is the second-highest-ranked team in the AP Top 25 this week, behind No. 5 Clemson, and one of five teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The most recent poll also includes rankings for Wake Forest (No. 20), NC State (No. 21), and Syracuse (No. 22).
